Lake County has $8.7 million programmed to pay for the reconstruction and improvement of Hawley Street from east of US Route 45 to Midlothian Road.

The Village of Mundelein is currently working on the final engineering and right of way acquisition for this project with construction expected to begin next year.

Peterson Road

The Lake County Division of Transportation continues to make progress on efforts to widen Peterson Road from two to five lanes in central Lake County.

The first phase of this effort from US Route 45 to west of IL Route 83 has been under construction this year with the project expected to be completed in the spring.

The second phase of this improvement will extend the widening of Peterson Road from IL Route 83 to west of Alleghany Road and includes the resurfacing of Alleghany Road from Peterson Road to IL Route 120. Lake County is currently finalizing the right of way acquisition for this project with construction expected to begin in the spring.

Fremont Center Road

A $2 million reconstruction improvement is programmed in 2017 for Fremont Center Road from IL Route 60 to Gilmer Road.

A Phase I engineering study is underway to consider alternatives for improving Fremont Center Road at IL Route 60.

Gilmer Road Adaptive Traffic Signals

Lake County will be installing a new traffic signal control technology on Gilmer Road from Midlothian Road to Fremont Center Road early next year. Known as adaptive traffic signal controls this new signal technology serves traffic more effectively and improves travel efficiency through the corridor. This $1 million improvement includes federal funding and is part of Lake County's PASSAGE intelligent transportation systems program.

Gilmer Road at Midlothian Road

Lake County is finalizing the Phase I engineering stage of this effort that has been underway to improve the intersection of Gilmer Road at Midlothian Road. A public hearing is anticipated in the first quarter of 2015.   Final engineering and ROW acquisition for this project are expected to get started early next year with construction planned for 2016.
