Mundelein Memorial Day Parade

posted May 23, 2013, 11:29 AM by Brian Donahoe
will start at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 27th from the Mundelein Village Hall. The Memorial Day Parade is a solemn, patriotic tribute to veterans, and those individuals who have given their life in military service. Distribution of candy and promotional literature is discouraged. Participants should maintain the spirit of the parade.

The parade is led by a color guard, followed by a bagpipe duo, a rider-less horse led by active duty military personnel (the rider-less horse is symbolic of a fallen leader), a military-style caisson also led by active duty military personnel, an antique trolley with local veterans, the Mundelein High School marching band, community groups, and concludes with the Villages antique fire truck Old #1.

The parade proceeds west on Hawley Street to Emerald Ave., and concludes at Memorial Park. At Memorial Park American Legion Post #867 will conduct its annual veterans tribute ceremony featuring a 21-gun salute, taps played by two trumpets, and keynote speech by Medal of Honor recipient Allen Lynch.
